WELCOME BACK!  On behalf of the IMS PTSO Executive Board I would like to welcome back all of our returning 8th graders and extend a warm first-time welcome to our new 7th graders! We hope this year will be a fun-filled one for every student. Middle school is a wonderful bridge into the more independent years of high school, but it is still critical that parents remain aware of what is happening in their child’s life and take an active role in making the journey across the bridge a positive one. The PTSO is dedicated to providing each child at IMS fun and educational opportunities that will help them grow into the best young adults they can be. The PTSO Board cannot do these things alone. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We need each parent to volunteer some of their time and talent. We understand and appreciate the fact that not all parents can chair a committee or sit on the Board. We are simply asking that you give us what you can. If one hour is all you can do, we can use it. No amount of time or level of talent is too small that it won’t make a difference. Trust us, it does. Involvement at any level in your child’s school sends the message to them that you care about them and what is important to them. We are also asking that you become a PTSO member. The PTSO budget for the activities it is involved with is approximately $15,000. The majority of these activities are funded through your paid membership dues. So please consider becoming a member. Communication between the PTSO and our families is both critical and challenging. We are constantly striving to strengthen the lines of communication between school and home. By visiting this website and signing up for the PTSO email broadcasts, IMS NewsONLINE, you can stay updated on the goings-on at IMS. We hope that you take a few minutes to look over the committee list on this website. Find a committee you think you would like and make a commitment to volunteer or to chair it. One hour is all we ask. If everyone volunteered for at least one hour, think of how much stronger our PTSO would be, and what a difference we could make. Of course, our hope is that you can give more than an hour. You won’t regret the time spent here. We are looking forward to sharing a wonderful year here at IMS with all of you!
